What Is Asthma?

Asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the lungs. Asthma occurs when a person’s airways become inflamed, narrow and swell, and produce extra mucus, which can make it very difficult to breathe.

What we need to understand is this: the lungs fill with mucous, the bronchial tubes (or the airways of your throat) can close down. It can be very scary for the person dealing with it. In rare instances, a person can die in the middle of an asthma attack. It is a condition that needs to be addressed and treated and not ignored.
