There are a lot of people who come into the Epigenetics Healing Center and ask questions like “Dr. Goodbinder, should I just get off my drugs?”
Absolutely not.
If you are going to go through my program, I actually expect you to stay on your drugs, at least until we have definitive evidence and the OK from your medical doctor that it will be a safe and permanent solution to get off of them. There are some pretty important reasons for this, so let’s explore them a little deeper.
The Importance of Testing
No matter what you’re suffering from, whether it be arthritis, colitis, Crohn’s disease, high cholesterol, depression, fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, or any other chronic condition that requires medication, testing can help give me a clear picture as to the root causes of the problem.
My intake and diagnostic process always includes comprehensive testing. I test a holistic set of factors to get a better picture of your overall health. Our tests give us important indicators into things like:
- Stress levels
- Digestive health
- Food sensitivities
- Metabolic function
- Hormone imbalances
- … and more
Once I have the results of these tests, I will discuss them with you and help you understand the broader picture of your health. We will work together to come up with a plan to address the most important factors that need to be changed in order for you to create a permanent solution for your issues.
We will continue to test to track progress as you work through your program and start to see improvements over time. As soon as we have the labs that give us a black and white answer that shows you can likely come off of your medication, I will give you that lab and tell you to work with your medical doctor on a plan to get you off of the drugs for good.
Working With Your Medical Doctor
Your medical doctors are experts at medicine. I don’t practice medicine. I will give you the tools to get yourself back to full health, and your medical doctor can make the call about what to do with your medications.
If you are able to show them real changes, most of your doctors are going to be really excited to help get you off medication. We just need to get you to a point where coming off of your medications can be a safe and permanent solution.
Your medical doctor and I both want you to be able to get off of your medications for the rest of your life, but it will always be up to your doctor to take you off of them.
