At What Age Should I Start Testing for Medical Issues?

At the Epigenetics Healing Center, we get a lot of questions about what age is the best age to start testing a child’s different health indicators, such as blood sugar, AICs, inflammatory markers or other levels.

As it turns out, the answer to that question is difficult to answer, but what we typically say is that you should use your best judgment rather than wait for one specific age to start helping your child make necessary changes to turn his or her condition into a success story.

There is No One Age To Start Testing

We think of your child’s health as a whole, rather than one age or condition.

No matter the age of your child, if you notice he or she is experiencing a condition, such as diarrhea, itchy scalp or trouble concentrating, don’t ignore the possibility that he or she may need a test to get to an accurate picture at the root cause of the condition. It never hurts to request a test if you think it may be warranted.

How We Test Differently

When you take your child to a traditional doctor, they may perform a series of tests in order to decide which medication to prescribe to stop his or her symptoms.

The problem with this method is that, although medication may stop the negative effect (such as diarrhea, for example), it doesn’t address what was really causing the problem in the first place, which may really have been due to something such as a dietary intolerance or a stress-related event.

We believe the healthcare industry has incentives to keep you at the doctor and to keep you medicated. When you visit a traditional doctor, your insurance company pays a large amount to the provider you see. Pharmaceutical companies encourage doctors to prescribe certain medications so they can sell more pills. When you stay sick or drugged, they make money.

Our Healing Philosophy

At the Epigenetics Healing Center, we look at the person in our office on many different levels to figure out why they are experiencing their symptoms before we assign a treatment plan.

We believe that, on a basic level, the conditions you or your child are dealing with are adaptations caused by stressors placed upon the body. Those stressors can come from a number of different places, including:

  • Stress levels
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Organ malfunctions
  • Diet
  • Exercise
  • Sleep
  • Personal interactions
  • Lack of spiritual life or sense of purpose

As we work to remove those stressors and amplify positive functions within the body, we can bring you back to a natural place of complete health, happiness and balance.

Our goal is to empower your body to work and feel its best, without the use of drugs or invasive treatments. We value who you are as a whole and want to see you truly healthy and the end of your healing process.
