Does Functional Medicine Accept Insurance or Medicare?

To get the answer quickly—no. We do not accept insurance or Medicare for our services. But it is not because we don’t want to. There are a number of reasons why what we do is not compatible with insurance and Medicare, and we think it will help you know what you’re getting from us to understand what those are.

What Insurance Covers

Insurance and Medicare are part of a larger traditional medical system in this country that is designed to treat you with harsh and invasive methods that only fix the symptoms of your problems. Insurance companies cover drugs and surgery, which “treat” you but don’t address any of the reasons why you were sick in the first place.

Insurance makes a lot more money if you’re sick than if you’re healthy. So as a good business model, companies would like to keep you sick and alive for as long as possible. By forcing doctors to assist you using only approved methods insurance companies can ensure that you stay sicker but live longer (and pay them lots and lots of money in the meantime).

This isn’t your doctor’s fault. Your doctors care about you and want to make you better, but sadly they are handcuffed by a bad system.

How Epigenetics is Different

Nobody who has ever visited the Epigenetics Healing Center has ever answered the question “Why are you sick?” with “I am sick because I don’t have enough drugs and surgery.”
