What’s the Difference Between Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and Hypothyroidism?

The thyroid, located at the base of the neck, is a butterfly-shaped gland that produces several vital hormones that regulate the heart, weight, body temperature, and more. What Is Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis?

However, hypothyroidism can be caused by any condition that affects the thyroid, such as thyroid cancer or surgery, certain medications, and radiation treatment. It can even be present from birth (congenital hypothyroidism). 

Symptoms of hypothyroidism are similar to that of Hashimoto’s. However, left untreated, it can also lead to mental health problems, infertility, heart disease, and more.
