What is Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in our country today. It’s destroying lives and causing many people to have a variety of symptoms from sleep trouble and memory loss to amputation of limbs.

Type 2 Diabetes results when your body has difficulty metabolizing sugar. Commonly called sugar diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes is your body’s lack of ability to get the sugar that is inside your vessels out into your body.

Type 2 Diabetes can come from anywhere in the body. It can be a liver problem, a pancreas problem or a hormone problem. It can sometimes be caused just by stress on the body, and hormones like cortisol going up and pushing more sugar into the blood. All these issues really need to be tested in order to address the cause.

What is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 1 Diabetes is the lack of production of insulin, so you don’t have the ability to make insulin to get sugar out of your vessels. Type 2 is actually when you are normally producing insulin or even producing too much insulin, but you don’t have the receptors for it on your vessels to get the blood sugar out.
